IMPORTANT:
Avoid buying one-for-all generic adapters which come with an array of tips for different laptops – they are unreliable and can exacerbate the problem. The tip and the plug combined are generally longer than original plug - more chances of getting caught when moving the laptop or items near the laptop. Also the extra length transmits a greater force to the DC connector due to leverage. This increases the chances of breaking the socket or loosening it from the motherboard.
